🌿When It’s Not Energy It’s Avoidance: Discerning the Difference Between Spiritual Boundaries & Spiritual Bypassing

Let’s talk about something that’s trending for all the wrong reasons: “Protect your energy.”

We hear it everywhere “I’m only accepting good vibes,” or “I had to cut them off because their energy was off.” And while setting boundaries is healthy and biblical, we need to pause and ask: Am I guarding my peace, or avoiding my healing?

This week in Rise & Receive, we are unpacking what it really means to discern spiritual boundaries from spiritual avoidance. One leads to growth. The other keeps us stuck.

🌀 Positive Energy ≠ Holy Discernment

Let’s be honest the world has hijacked the language of “energy” to justify emotional avoidance. We’ll label people “toxic” when really, they just triggered something unhealed inside of us. Or we’ll call it “protecting our peace” when we’re just running from hard conversations and accountability.

But here’s the truth:

God never told us to avoid discomfort. He called us to face it with Him.

“Search me, God, and know my heart
see if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23-24

This kind of prayer doesn’t protect your energy it heals your spirit.

đŸ™…đŸœâ€â™€ïž Spiritual Bypassing Looks Like:

  • Replacing real prayer with mantras

  • Labeling conviction as “negative vibes”

  • Avoiding grief or hard emotions in the name of “staying positive”

  • Using “God told me
” as an excuse to ghost accountability

It’s not protecting your peace it’s avoiding your process.

đŸŒ± God’s Peace Comes With Process

Jesus never avoided pain. He leaned into it.

He wept. He fasted. He flipped tables. He prayed until He sweat blood.

That’s not “high vibes only” that’s real, raw spiritual maturity.

And yet, in the middle of it, He still walked in peace. The peace of God doesn’t avoid hard things. It equips you to face them.

💡 What to Ask Yourself This Week:

  • Am I calling something “bad energy” when it’s actually just conviction?

  • Have I mislabeled discomfort as danger?

  • Is God trying to heal me through this and I’m ignoring Him?

đŸ•Šïž Final Word: Protect Your Spirit, Not Just Your Space

It’s okay to want peace. But don’t settle for surface peace when God is calling you deeper. Let’s be people who heal, not hide. Who confront with grace, not ghost out of fear. And who follow Jesus even when it’s hard.

Because the goal isn’t just “good vibes.” The goal is wholeness.

We’re walking through it too and healing is better in community. 💕
